Vintage Wusthof 11″ Chef Carbon 147-11 1930

Ed Wusthof (est. 1814) 11″ chef knife with old Trident logo on hand forged carbon steel blade (tapered tang) with fruit wood (pear?) handle riveted with old style silver nickel pin and silver nickel washer rivets.

This knife has been confirmed by Wusthof to be an authentic 147-11 from the 1930s and is in excellent condition with a very full blade. The Trident stamp without the inclusion of Dreizackwerk would indicate that it could have been made specifically for export and is consistent with the original owner being from the Middle East.

This knife pre-dates Wusthof’s model of automation replacing hand work in the Marshal Plan era re-tooling of post WW2 Solingen. Lots of Solingen’s industrial equipment was either destroyed or to taken by the British after the war so a lot of industry was re-imagined. Mr. Wusthof imagined having as few employees as possible and hence this era of German knife making begins.
