Vintage French Boulangerie Change Plate – “Le Bon Pain de France” Butter Plate

This charming small French ceramic trinket dish was originally used as a change plate on boulangerie counters — the place where a baker would leave your coins & receipt for you to collect after paying for your bread.
Made for Le Bon Pain de France – Qualité Culinaire, a well-known bakery and delicatessen company from the Troyenne region, which supplies products for international retailers, supermarkets, restaurants and local private individuals. 
These little dishes were never produced for retail sale. Instead, they were created as promotional items supplied to bakeries that stocked their products. The same ceramics company makes items for a bank which were given when customers hit a savings goal, similar to NatWest piggy banks. 

The dish features a pale brown glaze, an embossed French bread motif, and the wording “Le Bon Pain de France” along with the company’s ear-of-corn emblem.

Perfect today as a trinket dish, hallway key plate, ring bowl, soap dish, small butter plate or decorative piece in a country kitchen.

Listed as used due to lack of packaging, but each dish appears to be in new, unused condition, likely surplus stock at the end of a promotional period.
