Editor’s notes

This stately table was once the centerpiece of a French kitchen.  The table top has marks of time and use that gives it a glow that can’t be replicated with a newly made furrniture piece.  Our favorite part is the hand carved marks added to the tabletop – we imagine by a sneaky, cheeky French child in the household.  This surface wasn’t precious—it was worked and used.
