Monolith Knives began in 2013 with a simple goal: to make tools that belong in your life—and last a lifetime. What started as an experiment in blending sculpture, fabrication, and utility has grown into a small team committed to craft. We’ve carried our knives in pockets, packs, and kitchens, always learning from real use and refining our work along the way.
Inspired by the Chesapeake Bay “stabber” shucker, used for generations by watermen, this knife’s rounded handle and precise blade make quick work of oysters. Monolith’s version carries that tradition forward.
Each knife joins locally sourced wood with a precision‑machined stainless ferrule for a construction that’s simple and strong. Built in collaboration with fabrication shops in Virginia and Pennsylvania, and hand‑ground and finished in Monolith’s Charlottesville shop, the Chesapeake Shucker unites American manufacturing with handmade craftsmanship.
