No fewer than five distinct stainless steel alloys form a mind-bending damascus steel created as only Joshua Prince can. In two interlocking cascades of intertwined steel, not only do faces and figures emerge from the shadows, they melt away with the same swiftness, their transitory states provoked by the blade’s bevels catching, absorbing, and reflecting light from alternating angles. Forged by hand at his Rhode Island studio, Joshua has harnessed the extraordinary steel to form not only a piece of art, but a tool of superlative function. From a wide, weighted, and rounded spine the convex bevels taper downwards to a thin, razor-sharp edge designed for vegetable chopping, yet one which you will not likely resist using for much more. To wield the 165mm / 6.5″ blade which stands 78mm tall at the heel, Joshua sculpts a handle that begins with the same five-alloy stainless damascus in the form of an integral forged bolster, joined with stepped-down, heirloom fit-up to a piece of beautiful curly maple with ergonomic curves and facets for fingers to hug. An object of impeccable character.
